John Bauer

President, Consultjb

John Bauer is president of Consultjb. Prior to owning his own company, John worked for Abbott Laboratories for 31 years. At the time of his retirement from Abbott, John was a senior research fellow and spent the majority of his time as a scientific consultant in the areas of solid-state sciences, analytical chemistry, and pharmaceutics and as a science advisor to the patent department. He has extensive deposition experience and experience testifying in court as a scientific expert. During his tenure at Abbott he was intimately involved in many aspects of product development, including analytical method development, drug characterization and degradation, solid-state characterization and impact, patent litigation, API and drug product stability, regulatory submissions, and manufacturing problems for such products as Depakote, Hytrin, Temafloxacin, Estazolam, and Panhematin. He identified the cause of the Ritonavir crystal form crisis of 1998 and was the principle chemist involved in resolving the issue. John received an M.S. and Ph.D. in organic chemis¬try from the University of Kentucky. Between earning his degrees, he served as a radiochemist at the Army Environmental Hygiene Agency and received an Out¬standing Achievement Award from the Surgeon General of the United States.
